The messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, when someone whose religion and character you are pleased with proposes to (someone under the care) of one of you, then marry to him. If you do not do so, then there will be turmoil (fitnah) in the land and abounding discord (fasad)."
[At-Tirmidhi 1084, authenticated by Shaykh aal-Albaanee]
This hadith emphasizes the importance of prioritizing religion and good character when considering a marriage proposal. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) advises that if a person whose religion (Islamic commitment) and character are satisfactory proposes, one should proceed with the marriage. If this advice is ignored, the Prophet (ﷺ) warns of the potential for widespread societal issues, including "fitnah" (turmoil) and "fasad" (corruption or discord), indicating that neglecting these values in marital decisions could lead to harm within the community.
This hadith stresses the value of making wise and faith-based choices in marriage to ensure social stability and harmony.
